Marriage, Family and Couples Therapy

Couples and family therapy are forms of psychotherapy that focus on improving the dynamics and relationships between members of these important relationships.  Family and couple dynamics can significantly impact individual's mental health and well-being.  Family therapists help families and couples understand and address conflict, improve communications, and create a more supportive and functional family/couple environment.  

Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, often referred to as therapy. is a collaborative and confidential form of mental health treatment.  It involves a trained and licensed therapist joining with an individual achieve defined goals and find relief from a variety of symptoms. The therapist provides a nonjudgmental and empathetic environment in which to explore a variety of symptoms, subject, and challenges.  Therapy can be short-term or longer, depending on the nature and severity of issues being addressed.

Co-Parenting Support and Education

Co-parenting support and education helps separated or divorced parents interact (co-parent) in a manner that reduces the impact of the split family. Co-parenting support and education focuses on reducing trauma, and drama while increasing emotional safety and intimacy in the parent-child relationship. Adventure Psychotherapy provides the parents with real tools and insights that improve parenting competencies and confidence.  

Intensive Couples Weekends

Separation and divorce have a significant impact on the entire family.  In many cases the decision to separate comes after a lengthy period of decline in a relationship.  Ultimately, the consequences of separation and divorce can be great; not a decision to be taken lightly.  The Adventure Psychotherapy Intensive Couples Weekend is designed to support couples examine their relationship, completing the weekend with greater insight and tools for moving forward.  The goal of the weekend is not to 'save the marriage'. Rather, it is to help couples make the best decision for their unique circumstances and relationship.

Clinical Supervision

The first years following graduation from a masters/doctoral program in a counseling/therapy profession are probably the most important in determining the trajectory of your professional career.  Your clinical supervisor should support your professional development, develop your clinical competencies, provide guidance and feedback, ensure the highest level of ethics are recognized and followed, and to support your path to independent licensure.  Adventure Psychotherapy provides clinical supervision by AAMFT Approved Supervisors, meeting and exceeding WA standard for clinical supervision. 

Clinical supervision is a vital component of ethical and competent therapeutic practice. We take this responsibility seriously, ensuring the supervisee completes this experience with greater competencies and confidence.
